Google Calendar: hand off a whole secondary calendar
Choose whole-calendar responsibility, shared access, a dated copy [cited revision] or one-event ownership [cited revision].
Ownership. Google, prerequisites and whole-calendar transfer sections:
- Primary calendars cannot transfer. Only the current owner can transfer a secondary calendar; work/school recipients must be in the same organization.
- The route is My calendars → Options → Settings and sharing → Shared with → person's dropdown → Transfer ownership; confirm.
- The recipient has 60 days to accept the emailed link; you remain owner until acceptance.
- After acceptance, you retain Make changes and manage sharing permission.
Separate sharing from ownership. Google, “Share your calendar with people or groups” allows someone with Make changes and manage sharing to share another person's calendar. That permission alone does not identify the owner. Sharing can give access without transferring responsibility; work/school administrators control sharing. A sharing invitation and ownership acceptance are separate steps.
Identify the calendar, owner, recipient and scope privately. Missing recipient or transfer control leaves a pending role/account question. Verify acceptance and permissions before declaring the handoff finished.
This preparation establishes no safe account-deletion point, recovery result or Google Meet continuity. Keep those requirements separate. It also supplies no calendar action, invitation delivery or recipient-access result.
Evidence: Both English Computer pages were checked at 2026-10-05T15:12:53Z; no update dates were visible. Manual reader decisions only; no account action. A distinct same-operator checker reread both sources and checked 18 author decisions plus eight additional boundaries; no independent review claimed. Recheck before use, after changed roles, recipients, controls or sources, and by 2026-11-05T15:12:53Z. Editorial basis: current calendar standard [current article].
Feedback should name the revision and unclear step, without private calendar details or recipient addresses.
