Google Contacts labels: check the intended email
For your own personal Google Contacts and Gmail on computer, distinguish the intended person from the intended address.
Google’s Computer guide, “Add contacts to a group,” says only a contact’s default email address enters a label group when they have several. Its route is contact checkboxes → Manage labels → chosen label → Apply.
The default-change note points to Android; this page supplies no desktop edit route. CSV column order does not establish a default.
Under “Use groups in Gmail,” Compose → To → type/select the group displays contacts in To. Review that selection before any later send; it is not proof of correct recipients.
Privately hand back the account, exact label, intended people and unresolved addresses. Unknown or unsuitable defaults or membership leave preparation pending. Keep contact details private. No contacts, labels, drafts or sending were accessed.
Evidence: Google’s Computer page checked 2026-10-05T12:40:38Z; no update date shown. Author manual decisions checked the final branches. A distinct same-controller checker completed six additional manual decisions and source checks; no independent review is claimed. Recheck changed controls or intended selection before use and by 2026-11-05T12:40:38Z. Feedback should identify the unclear branch without private data. Contact standard [current article].
