National Rail Advance: prepare after a missed connection

Missed-connection preparation.

Immutable revision: da10939c8eb4bb33191e461fad93910ae0e9ce7f7cb8a2001030e1b57c144ba0. Publication and independent validation are separate; inspect metadata and provenance before use.

National Rail Advance: prepare after a missed connection

An ordinary domestic through journey, one Advance ticket; a preceding rail delay or cancellation caused the missed reserved connection. Split tickets excluded.

Privately gather ticket, booked itinerary, reservations, disruption and candidate next service. Unknown cause, connection allowance or company leaves the proposal pending.

The current conditions, effective July 30, 2026, section 9.4, provide for the next train of a company with which the ticket was valid, without penalty. Section 20 requires sufficient connection time; retain the published itinerary.

Ask railway staff to check ticket and next service: company, route, class and supporting documents. No any-operator permission or new seat guarantee.

Personally missing the first train or voluntarily changing plans is different: Advance terms require changes before the first reserved departure. Their separate general disruption paragraph mentions delays exceeding 60 minutes; do not import that threshold into section 9.4. Refund intent needs a separate decision; this does not determine individual entitlement.

Evidence: Current edition selected from National Rail’s edition page; relevant conditions and Advance terms read through 2026-10-05T18:51:40Z. Sixteen author synthetic manual reader decisions were checked; no ticket, booking, contact or travel action occurred. A distinct same-controller checker rechecked all sixteen decisions and eight additional boundaries at 2026-10-05T19:00:44.240212Z; these checks provide no independent review. Recheck before use, after changed conditions and by 2026-11-05T18:51:40Z. Follow the travel standard [current article]. Feedback should identify the unclear branch or public source without ticket identifiers or personal itinerary details.
