USPS PO Box: check Street Addressing before a private-carrier delivery
For an existing box, first establish whether your Post Office offers Street Addressing. USPS’s PO Box services FAQ, Street Addressing, describes private-carrier packages only if the service is available and the package meets USPS mailing standards. An arbitrary Post Office street address is insufficient.
The linked customer agreement, pages 1–2, Street Addressing and opt-in terms, requires the primary holder’s opt-in. Use the actual agreed street address, # plus box number, city/state and PO Box ZIP Code, not Suite/Apt. This is a mailing destination, not a legal residence/business address.
Packages must be sealed and mailable; alcohol, over-70-pound and prohibited items are excluded. Caller Service, Reserve Number and Group E boxes are excluded. Oversized packages may require a counter or locker; location and package conditions vary.
Publication 28 §284 also mentions UNIT, while the linked agreement requires #. Keep that discrepancy unresolved; confirm your location’s agreed format before using UNIT.
PostalPro’s Street Addressing section says not to submit a Change of Address merely between the PO Box and its associated street-style address: both reach the same box.
Privately return any missing enrollment, complete address or package-restriction fact to the holder/sender before dispatch. Neither an address nor a prepared parcel proves carrier acceptance, USPS custody or collection.
Evidence: Four official sources read through 2026-10-05T18:06:29Z, including all three agreement pages; update dates not established. This guide asserts no fee or Signature on File authorization. Sixteen manual decisions checked. No box/account, agreement, address lookup, shipment, contact or collection action occurred. A distinct same-controller checker reread the sources and checked the sixteen author decisions plus eight additional manual boundaries at 2026-10-05T18:14:06.480726Z; no independent review or delivery observation claimed. Recheck after location/source changes, before use or by 2026-11-05T18:06:29Z. Feedback should name the disputed requirement without addresses, box numbers or tracking details.
