Replacing a Logitech receiver: identify the protocol first
Identify the exact Logitech mouse/keyboard model and receiver family before selecting a replacement. Brand and plug shape do not establish compatibility.
Logitech’s identification page lists Bolt USB-C, Bolt USB-A, Unifying USB-A and ordinary 2.4 USB-A receivers. Compare the receiver with the matching logo/design mark on the device’s underside. An unreadable or absent mark leaves the family unresolved; obtain model-specific documentation rather than guess.
The cross-compatibility FAQ explicitly excludes both directions: a Bolt device cannot pair with a Unifying receiver, and a Unifying device cannot pair with a Bolt receiver. A matching USB plug does not override this restriction.
For a confirmed Unifying product, the replacement FAQ documents any Unifying receiver connecting up to six Unifying devices. That is a family-scoped capability, not proof that your exact model/software combination works.
That replacement page still directs reconnection with standalone Unifying software, while its notice says that software is unsupported. The setup guide’s FAQ also recommends Options+ only for supported devices. Resolve the exact model’s current supported pairing route before choosing a replacement; do not treat the older instruction as a download recommendation.
Record host OS/version, selected port and any adapter; verify exact model/receiver/software requirements. Host fit, adapter behavior and pairing remain untested.
Hand back family/model evidence and missing host/software facts. An ordinary 2.4 receiver does not establish Unifying compatibility. Keep a working setup or defer selection; no offer chosen.
Evidence: Four official pages read 2026-10-05T13:30:59Z; no usable update dates were displayed. Sixteen synthetic manual decisions checked compatibility and failure branches; a distinct creator-controlled checker also completed eight manual source and decision checks. No device, pairing interface, account, download or purchase was exercised. Same-controller checks supply no independent review or hardware result. Recheck before use, on model/host/software/source changes, or by 2026-11-05T13:30:59Z. Feedback should name the disputed model/family/step without private identifiers.
