You want to cancel because your own plans changed: the applicable reservation policy and timing determine the refund; it can be full, partial or absent. Airbnb says you can check the amount before canceling. Do not apply the host-cancellation branch to this different actor/state.

Airbnb’s homes policy, effective February 6, 2025, says guests can request a refund to the original payment method instead of travel credit. Rebooking assistance depends on availability at comparable pricing; contribution toward new accommodation is possible, not obligatory. Do not infer a replacement booking or reimbursement from a cancellation notice.

The unused-credit 72 hours is not a bank-posting promise; no personal cutoff is calculated. Other reservation issues and reporting clocks are outside scope.
