A customer-balance credit and a card refund are different outcomes. The refund, credit and out-of-band amounts must together equal the credit-note total.\n\nFor an open invoice, a credit note reduces the amount due without recording a payment. Reducing that balance to zero can change the invoice status to paid; the status alone therefore does not prove that cash was collected.\n\nCheck the matching invoice and customer, currency, invoice state and credit-note allocation.
