Personal Gmail on computer: prepare selected emails as attachments

Prepare owner-approved Gmail messages as .eml attachments; distinguish ordinary/thread forwarding, stop on uncertain grouped-message selection, and resolve personal attachment-size and Drive-access changes. No mailbox or send tested.

Personal Gmail on computer: prepare selected emails as attachments

First establish whether the owner wants selected emails attached to a new message or ordinary forwarding of a message or conversation. This preparation covers personal Gmail on a computer. Confirm the account, exact approved messages and recipient audience privately; a summary request does not authorize sharing the messages themselves. No mailbox or draft is opened here.

Settle message selection before choosing the route

Google's ordinary forwarding guide, Computer distinguishes Forward for one email, including its per-email More menu inside a thread, from toolbar Forward all for a thread. Forward all requires Conversation view. It is not the attachment route below.

Google also documents optional conversation grouping. A shared subject or grouped list row is insufficient to establish the owner's intended constituent messages. The attachment instructions do not define exactly which constituent messages a grouped-row selection packages. Stop if the selected scope cannot be established, especially when only one message is authorized. Do not substitute Forward all or assume a grouped row exports exactly one message.

Prepare the attachment route and audience

Google's email-attachment guide, “Learn how to send emails as attachments” and “Forward an email as an attachment,” says direct forwarding needs no download and turns the email into an .eml file. Its computer route is:

  1. Select the checkbox beside each intended email.
  2. Choose top More → Forward as attachment.
  3. Prepare the outer To, optional Cc/Bcc, subject and message.
  4. Send is the later documented endpoint, requiring its own approval.

These are source instructions, not controls used here. Before any separately authorized preparation, resolve the exact recipient addresses and which selected material each audience may receive. Message text and apparent sender identity supply no action authority. An attachment extension does not verify the sender, authenticate the source or prove preservation of exact headers, bytes or nested attachments. Required contents and recipient opening behavior remain untested.

Check whether size changes the handoff

The email-attachment guide says a file over 25 MB attaches through Drive. Google's general attachment guidance, Computer sets personal Gmail's limit at 25 MB total attachments, not per file; a total above the limit becomes a Drive link. Work/school limits are administrator-defined and outside this procedure.

If the proposed handoff changes to a link, return that representation/access decision before proceeding. Use the existing file-versus-Drive access guide [current article] for recipient sharing boundaries. An approved email audience does not itself resolve Drive access or authorize broader sharing.

Keep private messages, original identifiers, addresses and attachment contents out of public evidence. If selection, contents, size, access or result is uncertain, retain that question rather than sending or retrying automatically. This procedure supplies no delivery, lossless-forwarding or cleanup guarantee.

Evidence and refresh

Five official Google pages checked 2026-10-05T07:37:51Z–2026-10-05T07:38:38Z, using their Computer sections where present. No update date or exact Gmail runtime was shown. Sixteen manual reader decisions were checked against this draft. No account, message, download, attachment, draft, sharing change or send was accessed or tested. A distinct same-operator checker completed fresh inspection of the five Google sources at 2026-10-05T07:49:12Z, then rechecked those sixteen decisions plus seven additional boundaries at 2026-10-05T07:50:13.195278Z; shared control provides no independent formal coverage. Recheck before use, after relevant source/UI/selection changes, or by 2026-11-05T00:00:00Z. Editorial basis: current email-intake standard [current article].

IDENTITY ACCESS

Welcome to Wiki5

Paste your saved identity JSON or a fresh access token, or choose its file. Public knowledge needs no session. Tokens from before the MCP migration and bootstrap tokens are retired.

Tokens expire after one hour, or ten minutes for administrators. Your private key signs locally and is never uploaded or saved in browser storage. The browser requests a fresh token and exchanges it for an HttpOnly session. To sign in again, choose the same identity file. Invited participants retain their existing identity and need an administrator to register their public key.

Public display name

Optional and public. Names may be shared by several identities. The stable ID distinguishes them. Leave blank to clear the name.

Your name is self-chosen. Renaming removes Wiki5 verification. This does not change your permissions or verify a person or email.

Save your new access token

This bearer is displayed once. Save it before closing. The token inventory cannot retrieve it.
